Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you get started.

Open any question below. For anything not covered, send me an enquiry and I will reply personally.

How do online lessons work?

Lessons take place online using a video-call platform. Students can see and speak with me, share work and complete interactive activities from home.

What ages do you teach?

I support primary, secondary and GCSE learners. Suitability depends on the learner’s needs and the type of support requested.

Do you specialise in SEND?

My tutoring is SEND-informed and designed around accessibility, clarity, confidence and individual learning needs. A consultation helps us decide whether my approach is suitable.

What happens in the free consultation?

You send a short enquiry by email. I reply personally to arrange a 30-minute conversation about needs, goals, confidence, availability and whether I am the right fit.

How much do sessions cost?

A one-hour session costs £25. A block of ten one-hour sessions costs £225, saving £25.

How do payment and booking work?

Paid options use Stripe. After successful payment, you are directed to the booking page to choose an available lesson time.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice when cancelling or rearranging a paid session.

Is tutoring available in person?

No. Dimmock Tutoring currently provides online tuition only.

Can parents stay during lessons?

Parents may support the initial setup and can discuss what level of involvement best suits the learner. The goal is to create a safe, productive environment.

Will my child receive homework?

Homework may be suggested when it is useful and manageable. It is tailored to the learner rather than set automatically after every session.

How is progress tracked?

Progress is reviewed through work completed during sessions, learner confidence, recurring difficulties and curriculum-linked skills. Feedback is shared clearly with families.

What technology is needed?

A reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet place to work are recommended.
